What Is Valet Trash Service?

A doorstep trash collection service designed to make apartment living cleaner, easier, and more convenient.

The short answer

Valet trash is a doorstep waste collection service offered to residents of apartment communities. Instead of carrying bags down hallways, elevators, or stairwells to a dumpster, residents place their tied trash bags inside a Porter-provided bin just outside their door on scheduled nights. A Porter team member walks the property and collects every bin, taking the trash directly to the community's compactor or dumpster.

How it works

  1. Each resident receives a dedicated Porter bin for their unit.
  2. On scheduled service nights, place securely tied trash bags inside the bin.
  3. Set the bin outside your door before the posted start time.
  4. Our team collects the trash and returns the bin to your door.
  5. Recycling can be set beside the bin if your community participates.

Why communities offer it

Doorstep valet trash service keeps hallways, breezeways, and dumpster areas cleaner, reduces odors and pests, and gives residents a premium amenity they use every week. For residents, it removes one of the most repetitive chores of apartment living.

What residents can expect

  • Consistent service nights each week, with notice of any holiday changes.
  • Quarterly bin cleaning to keep your container fresh.
  • Guidelines on what can and can't be collected at the door.
  • Bulk item pickup available by request for larger items.

Getting the most out of the service

Tie bags securely, keep them inside the bin, and place the bin out before the posted start time. If a pickup is ever missed or you need a large item removed, use the resident dashboard to submit a request — we'll take it from there.
